Writing Credentials

With an MA in Creative Writing and 18 years spent writing for big brands, Leah has a nose for a good news story and the ability to craft hard-hitting copy. When she's not writing for clients, she's writing for herself - as a published poet working on her debut poetry collection. She is a member of the Guild of Health Writers.

Leah has written a plethora of editorial and by-lined articles on behalf of her clients for key consumer titles and national papers, on and offline. Coverage has appeared in titles including: The Guardian, The Observer, BBC online, The FT, Stylist, MSN, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, Daily Star, Red, Vogue, Grazia, Marie Claire, Closer, Olive, Good Housekeeping, Woman & Home, BBC Good Food, Delicious, Female First and Vegetarian Living. This press release alone achieved coverage in several broadsheets and tabloids, and dozens of online magazines:

Leah is a published poet. She writes short stories, flash fiction and is working on her debut poetry collection. She's been short-listed for her flash fiction, short stories and poetry by Fish Publishing 2014 and Writing magazine 2011 and 2013. Most notably, five of her poems and a short piece of fiction were short-listed for the prestigious Bridport Prize 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018.

Leah was also one of 200 short-listed poets selected out of 13,000 global entries to be named for the "Wimbledon of poetry competitions", the National Poetry Competition 2015.

Her poem “Jackdaw” was published by the Poetry Society's Poetry News in Autumn 2016 and subsequently short-listed for the Anne Born Prize 2017. Judge and award-winning poet, Helen Farish said: "Leah's poem understands the importance of pace. A fast-talking, witty and imaginative poem which successful sustains the opening conceit. It makes use of cinematic imagery and has a fresh take on the theme".

Recently, Leah was joint runner-up of the Poetry Society's Stanza Competition 2018; shortlisted for the Bridport Prize 2018 (poetry category); and long-listed for the Women's Poetry Competition 2018 by Poetry Book Society & Mslexia judged by Carol Ann Duffy. She has also had work published by reputable e-zine, Ink, Sweat & Tears.

Very recently she was runner-up in the Women's Poetry Competition 2019 by Poetry Book Society & Mslexia.

Whilst overseas, she was also the Lifestyle Editor for a women’s interest magazine, NU Woman, and the entertainment contributor to the local newspaper, the Turks & Caicos Free Press.

During this time, Leah collaborated with a client, Karen Whitt (TCHTA), who commissioned her to work on an assignment for Macmillan Publishers, to write the introductory chapters of a lifestyle book depicting the history, culture and beauty of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Whitt later said: "Her flirtatious essays wowed not only the editors, but the publishers alike," said Whitt.

She enjoys writing about food, and a couple of summers ago, she wrote a piece on tea and food and tea pairings for Caboodle magazine.

In July 2016, Leah was commissioned by Sainsbury's Magazine to write for the publication. The prestigious food magazine spotted Leah's food and travel blog and selected her as the East Anglian blogger to write a feature about local eateries and produce from the region.

To support the Eastern Daily Press' campaign "Get Behind Your Market", she wrote a piece about her Favourite Foodie Finds, which appeared in the Norwich Evening News and the EDP online (October 2016). Most recently, she wrote a round-up for Healthy Eating Week highlighting Norfolk & Suffolk's Healthiest Restaurants, which featured in both the East Anglian Daily Times and EDP (June 2018).

One of her specialist knowledge subjects is her home county of Norfolk. She was approached by a private publisher to contribute to a coffee table book for the Infiniti Cars Group: The Ultimate Norfolk Staycation.

With a love of food and wellbeing, Leah has also contributed a series of online features to The Lady magazine (Reach: 550,000) including:  Seasonal Summer VegTop Tips for Meditation and Picnic Week Accessories.

The UK's largest independently owned women's lifestyle website, Female Fist, published features Leah wrote on: 10 Hedgerow Herbs to Brighten Up Your Summer Cooking (July 2018), How to Survive Festival Season with a Toddler (August 2018), Nine Things to Do By The Sea in Winter (March 2019) and A Review of Fritton Arms (April 2019).

She is also a regular contributor to the UK's biggest wellbeing magazine In the Moment.
